Anger Management
If you feel that your anger is really out of control, if it is having an impact on your relationships and on important parts of your life, you might consider counselling and therapy to learn how to handle it better. Here at Asante Therapy we work with you in developing a range of techniques for changing your thinking and your behavior. With counselling and therapy a highly angry person can often be successful in moving closer to a middle range of anger in about 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the circumstances and the techniques used.
At Asante therapy Centre we provide an individual anger management program aimed at reducing levels of anger demonstrated by an individual especially when they find themselves in provocative situations. Our approach focuses on the triggers for people’s anger, we seek to help them become more aware of the physical feelings that they experience when they are becoming angry and then to be able to choose whether they react with anger or are able to respond differently. We also look at the factors that caused them to respond angrily in certain situations whether they be related to personality traits or the pressures of relationships and work or life events. We then use a range of techniques to help the person develop a calmer disposition and learn the skills to be able respond to the pressures of daily life in ways that are more constructive.
Sessions usually take between sixty and ninety minutes and during them you will learn the following:

How to know when you are becoming angry and to be able to express your feelings better

Ways to cope with stressful life events such as unemployment and relationship issues

|
|
Effective coping behaviours to stop your anger escalating beyond control
|
|
|
Techniques that will enable you to manage your emotional states
|
|
|
Ways to resolve conflicts both in the home and in your work environment
|
Individually tailored homework assignments that are agreed with participants will allow them to apply their newly acquired skills. We also provide a range of courses, teaching people techniques such as meditation and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) which they often find very useful when learning to manage their emotional state.
